Cape Verde car hire - Sal Island
4x4 car hire in Sal enables you to get to those magic places other tourists cannot reach. A 4x4 car is well suited to the terrain, to get off road to deserted beaches and places to swim, surf and windsurf. If you want to windsurf or kite surf with an onshore wind, car hire helps a lot in getting to kite surf beach. There are restaurants and bars off the beaten track too. The advantage of booking your car hire before you go is that you don't waste precious time trying to organise car rental upon arrival in Sal, when you may find that only the expensive cars at nearly 100 euros a day are left. We have looked around for a long time to find reasonably priced car rental, from a responsive car hirer. Unfortunately, cars are expensive to buy in Sal due to shipping costs and high import duties and this is reflected in rental prices.
You can rent cars in other Cape Verde Islands too. Boavista, Santiago, Sao Vicente
Pick up rental car at Sal airport - NO EXTRA CHARGE
The car can be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive, and you deliver it back to the airport when you leave. Be up and running from the start.
Pick up rental car at Santa Maria
You can also pick up your car and drop it off at Santa Maria, Vila Verde or Tortuga Beach.

Guest comments on car hire
Everythink went superfine, thanks again for all your good advices and the lovely car...
Will come back with more details and some pictures soon!
PS: The bird on your picture is a whimbrel (wader) which is common on the shores of the island during wintertime G from Luxembourg
Despite having visited Sal on several occasions, hiring a car for a week meant we got to all sorts of different spots on the island. We didn't need to get a taxi to and from the airport. It speeded up trips into Espargos and Santa Maria and we could come and go as we pleased. We discovered many new parts of the island and saw more of its volcanic structure, including driving round the top of the volcano crater at Salinas and right to the cliff edge at Buraccona. The remote beaches and spots we stopped for picnics and swims could only be reached by 4 x 4. We stuffed everything into the car, body boards, beach towels, swim suits, deck chairs, picnic and drinks. . C from London
We normally require 10 days notice to organise a hire car.
