Rooms at the Belorizonte
233 total rooms in bungalows near the beach or superior rooms (60)
in the main building. Bungalows are either twin or double, with
sleeping space for up to two children. Satellite TV, air conditioning,
mini bar, safe (charge for this)and shower room. Small balcony.
Superior rooms (see photo above) in the main building are twin,
with satellite TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, fridge, safe and
bathroom with bath, bidet, wc, basin. All superior rooms (twins)
have a small balcony with chairs with seaview or views over swimming
pool (these are allocated on arrival). For families wishing to share a room, we suggest the bungalows,
as the superior rooms can only accommodate up to 2 adults plus an
infant, unless two superior rooms are used with communicating doors.
The bungalows come in a variety of formats, some renovated without
the partition wall, others renovated with the wall to provide some
privacy for extra beds behind it. There are also some bungalows with
addtional bunk beds.
Dining
Belorizonte restaurant (breakfast and dinner), Grill Salinas restaurant
(lunch and dinner). Atrium bar (late), Tropical bar (daytime), Fun
bar (late) and Beach bar (daytime) which also serves snacks and
grills. There is a choice of full board or bed and breakfast. Lunch
is served as a buffet. Each evening at 10 pm there is entertainment
and dancing near the beach.
Facilities for children at Hotel Belorizonte
Cots are available for infants. There are some superior rooms which
have adjoining doors. Some of the bungalows can accommodate 2 adults
and an additional person, and others can accommodate 2 adults and
2 children. A doctor visits the hotel every day between 12 noon
and 1400. Guests can request a baby sitting service for dinner time
(payable locally). Organised games tend to take place during school
holidays. The parents accompany children to the children's club,
which offer a range of unstaffed facilities. There are also childrens' pools where parents can supervise swimming and paddling.
Comments
The Belorizonte is right next door to the Novorizonte (owned by
the same group, but on an all-inclusive basis) and they share the
tennis court and swimming pools. The hotel is modern and functional,
in a good position along the huge sandy beach. We recommend the
superior rooms as guests tend to much prefer them to the bungalows (see
photo above). The bungalows are between the main hotel buildings
and the beach. For divers, there is a Portuguese-run PADI diving
centre operating from within the hotel. As the hotels are well-established,
the grounds are quite spacious, and the gardens mature. Most of
the guests are Portuguese, so you shouldn't need to get up at 6am
to reserve your beach lounger. The hotel is functional, and does not have an intimate feel and the dining facilities are austere. For the business convention or conference
organiser, there are a range of conference facilities, with the
main auditorium catering for 200 theatre style. There are booths
for simultaneous interpreting, and a separate entrance and bar/coffee
area with balcony. The WIFI in reception appears to work well. We would suggest that you also consider the Hotel Morabesa, as this is next door. Between the Hotel Belorizonte and the Hotel Morabessa, the Belorizonte is carrying out an extension, and building what seems to be timesharing apartments.
Restaurants near to the hotel
The nearest restaurant is about 5 minutes walk, and further you have a choice of all the restaurants in Santa Maria. The path into the town centre is often dark at night, as is the road behind the hotel.
