Rooms in Vila Farol
The hotel caters for up to 500 people, and it does not appear huge.
These are in bungalows spread through the grounds leading down to
the beach. As it was built some years ago, the gardens are mature
with flowering hibiscus, bougainvillea. Each room can accommodate up to 3
people in two single beds, and an additional bed which also serves
as a sofa. Safe (free), fridge, air conditioning. The ceilings are
relatively high, and the bathroom has a bidet, WC, twin basins,
large shower, and hairdryer. The TV has several international channels
including CNN and TV Sport 1&2.
For 4 or families and children
The normal rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults, 1 child and one
baby. There are also double-bungalows with communicating doors which
can accommodate up to 6 people.
Eating and drinking at the Vila Farol
All meals are included, and all are buffet style with a range of
dishes. They run a Cape Verdean evening once a week. In the restaurant,
free drinks include beer, red and white wine and coke, fanta, sprite,
water, orange and mint iced tea. Down by the beach, there is a snack
bar which is open from 10 am to 10 pm, and you can eat and drink
in the open air. There is a bar on the first floor of the hotel
building, with views towards the sea from the long balcony. At the
bar, there is a wide range of drinks and if you would like non-local
drinks you have the possibility to pay for them.
What you need to pay for at Vila Farol
There is a charge for internet, and you can use your own computer
within the reception area on the WIFI network. Coca cola and water
in the mini bars will be charged for. At the dining room, there
is free wine (red and white), but you also have the choice of paying
for better wines by the bottle.
Comments
The hotel has a number of nationalities apart from Italian (it
is Italian owned), with a few Portuguese, and recently some British.
Supposedly it has the best all-inclusive food in Sal. As an all-inclusive
it is relatively low key and music is kept to a reasonable level.
If you wish to sunbathe in silence then there are sunbeds on the beach.
Being smaller than some of the others, we think it will appeal
to those not wishing to be in a massive hypermarket-style sun factory.
You can walk into Santa Maria from here, providing that you enjoy
walking and there is a path along the beach as well as a road.
Vila in Portuguese means town. This is not a villa location. The bedrooms are bungalows set in the grounds. Click on this link if you are looking for a villa holiday
