BLACK POINT APARTMENTS, Santa Maria, Sal Island

At most about 100 yards from a white sandy beach, this apartment block is at 90 degrees to the sea and at closest it's more like 50 metres, just the other side of the road from the beach. It is professionally run with a reception. 1 and 2 bedroom modern rental apartments, some with seaview, others opposite the beach, and many with balconies or patios. 15 minutes transfer from international aiport.

Dining/living

There's seating at the table in the open plan reception room. Sofa - all of the rental apartments have a sofa which can be turned into a bed. Satellite television. Balcony. Each is open plan and furnished with new modern Italian furniture. The bright colours go well in the tropical sunshine in Sal.

General

Sheets and towels are provided, depending on the number of people staying. There is a maid service once a week when the sheets and towels are changed, and the apartment cleaned at the end (apart from the kitchen area which must be left perfect by you for the next guests). If you would like the linen to be changed more often, there is a supplement payable locally. Bring your own beach towels. The apartments have a phone, and calls can be paid for at the end of the stay. There is a returnable deposit of 150 euros to pay upon arrival. Let us know when you book whether you want the beds to be made up as doubles or twins.

Things to do in Sal

Windsurfing. The beach where Josh Angullo (wave windsurfing champion) operates from is within yards of these apartments. In Santa Maria you can go kite surfing, sailing, game fishing, surfing, diving within 10 minutes. Visit the Old Salt mines at Pedra de Lume. Take a 4x4 out for a day and discover even more remote beaches. Flag down an aluguier (minibus) and go to Espargos, Murdeira or Palmeira - get a taste of the local charm and music.
